The Basics

While the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons resorts harbor the resort crowd (celebrity sightings are not uncommon) the beach itself is public. This means, unlike in many resort areas, the beach is open to locals and those staying in non-waterfront accommodations. This makes the beach a go-to spot for snorkelers, sunbathers, bodyboarders, joggers, and more.

Wailea Beach is also the launch point for outrigger canoe trips, scuba diving lessons, and snorkeling tours. You can even find beginner snorkeling lessons that offer underwater scooters to propel you through the water. Snorkeling and scuba diving tours frequently include encounters with tropical fish and sea turtles.

Snorkeling for Non-Swimmers for First Time - Wailea Beach
This was the most memorable activity of our trip! We have always wanted to go snorkeling but were not sure how to go about doing so. Our guide Tristan made us feel at ease and safety was always a priority! We all had a blast stepping out of our comfort zone. Tristan’s upbeat and relaxed vibe made the whole trip even more fun! Highly recommend!

Snorkeling for Non-Swimmers for First Time - Wailea Beach
Fantastic experience! The owner was very knowledgeable and prioritized instruction along with safety measures. Was excited to see some beautiful tropical fish sea turtles and a mana ray! This is a well run operation suitable for kids and adults. You don’t want to leave Maui without experiencing this adventure. Motorized scooters made it so easy to move about, easy to use and less exhausting then using flippers although they are available.

Sea Scooter Snorkeling Tour - Wailea Beach
Though we didn't get to actually snorkel.. the staff was great in getting our gear to fit our sizes. Our team leader was great in being honest with the conditions of the water. He let us know we wouldn't be able to actually see any fish or turtles but gave us a choice to do an alternative or get our refund. We appreciated the honesty they gave and willingness to return our funds! It was our last day so we couldn't reschedule.

Snorkeling for Non-Swimmers for First Time - Wailea Beach
We had a great time snorkeling for the first time! Georgia was wonderful! She was very helpful in explaining the proper way to put on the snorkeling equipments and patient with us nonswimmers to be comfortable in the water before taking us out to the deeper water. I loved that it was a small group and we got a lot of personal attention. Will definitely do this again if we get another chance to come to Maui!

If you don’t want to be just part of a huge crowd this is the ticket. Great one on one experience with the instructors. They were patient, professional and most of all safe. Any first timers to the snorkel world should use Yuri and Georgia. I wouldn’t;t go anywhere else

Snorkeling for Non-Swimmers for First Time - Wailea Beach
It was our first snorkeling experience. My wife doesn't know about swimming at all and I am a less-than-average swimmer. We were skeptical at first but these guys made it so easy for us, we really enjoyed and will do it again.
