The best tour on the island.

This was a amazing adventure for our family and the highlight of our visit to Kaui. The guide, Brian, paddle with us up the river and talked about the history of the surrounding area. Then we hiked through 4 water water crossing and step over many rocks and tree roots to get to our beautiful water fall, Secret Falls. Many of us swam in the pool and hid behind the fall water. Our guide Brian did a great job and loves sharing his stories with us about this magical place.

Brian is a Disney Prince

We did the 7am morning tour with Brian Hodder, and that was the best for two reasons: we left early to beat the heat and crowd, and Brian is such a beloved and delightful guide. His knowledge, stories, songs, picture taking skills, aloha spirit, respect for nature, and his Disney-Princess-like affinity with cute bird friends made the trip very entertaining, endearing and memorable. Highly recommend specifically the earlier time and with Brian. It got very crowded later in the morning. Echoing all the other tips: wear good traction footwear for water, bring a towel so you can dry off after a dip in the pool, bring water & snack, and definitely go behind the waterfalls. It really is exhilarating.

Having the opportunity to both kayak and hike to get to the waterfall. Then swim in the basin and walk behind the waterfall. Exhilarating!!!

We took this tour yesterday morning and had a fantastic experience. Loved kayaking up the river. It was a gentle river and my husband and I had no trouble. The hike was muddy and involved stepping over lots of rocks and roots. We also waded across a few rivers and streams. Good water shoes are a must! The hike was beautiful and the reward was the beautiful waterfall at the end of the trail. Brian, our guide, was great. He was very knowledgeable and fun, and had countless stories to share. My husband and I are in our late 60’s with moderate hiking abilities. We were very glad we had walking sticks, especially when wading across streams. We decided not to take food on the trip, but a snack or lunch would have been nice to enjoy at the waterfall. All in all, this was challenging, fun and rewarding. We’re so glad we did it. A great adventure for our Kauai vacation!!

Our tour guide was great. He had a lot of information to give us, cracked some jokes, and even sang songs. He made sure that everyone made it safely, especially the slower ones in the group. The river was very beautiful and the hike was pretty fun. We had plenty of time at the waterfalls to swim, eat, and take pics.

Magical Morning

Brian was a joy to have as a guide! He was kind, caring and so fun! (And his knowledge of Madonna songs was impressive!) Our entire group laughed and smiled from the time we got in the river until we returned. The paddle was refreshing, the hike was beautiful, the waterfall was magical and we all felt so fortunate to have had this experience. We all highly recommend. 5 stars! (Also, take the early morning tour to avoid the heat & crowds!)

Was memorable and enjoyable - Brian our tour guide was excellent- informative, friendly, and gregarious - hike in particular river crossings were more difficult than expected- strong undertow and quite muddy. Falls were very pretty- could have spent less time at the falls- would recommend

Save your money, hike Hanakapi'ai Falls instead

You meet at a parking lot, get a dry bag and they explain a few things. The kayak part and the hike is nice. Unfortunately this is a tourist trap and the waterfall gets loaded with tourists. Sad to see tour guides and tourists feeding the roosters. Best best is to go to Hanakapi'ai Falls. A bit of a hike but worth the views and experience. You also get to go behind the waterfall but it’s not full of roosters or lots of people.
